The Montessori educational method was developed over a century ago by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician. Dr. Montessori began to recognize that children at work and play have distinguishing developmental periods from birth to adulthood. Dr. Montessori understood that a child put into a tailored learning environment based on his/her specific developmental period would make the experience of learning for a child easier and more enjoyable.
